Mrs. Howard's Rules & Expectations:

Together, the students and I came up with only 1 rule for our classroom - RESPECT.  This means RESPECT for yourself, RESPECT for your classroom, RESPECT for your teacher, and RESPECT for other students.

Late Work

As it is my goal to have all work turned in completed, and on time, students will receive a deduction in credit for all late work.  The 6th graders and I came to a new arrangement.  Instead of 25% being deducted on the first late day, and then 0 credit being given, students have 5 school days to still earn credit.  So, work turned in on time may earn 100% total credit.  The maximum amount of credit available on work turned in one day late will be 90%.  The maximum amount of credit available on work turned in two days late will be 80%, and so on.  On the fifth day after the due date, a student will receive 50% of the credit, and on the sixth day, the student has earned a grade of zero.  This was put into effect Thursday, 9/22 for all assignments given that day and there forth.

Corrections

Corrections to papers will be accepted for credit.  Assignments originally due Monday - Friday must be handed in with corrections to receive more credit by the following Monday.  For example, if an assignment was given on Friday, October 14th, and was due on Monday, October 17th, the paper would probably be handed back to the student with a grade on it Tuesday, October 18th.  That student would have until Monday, October 24th to hand in the paper with corrections for credit.

Study Lunch

Students will be assigned study lunch if they do not have work turned in on time.  In addition, students will be assigned study lunch to make corrections to any work that earns a 70% or below.
